Top 10 NFL Logo Designs

Forget winning streaks, MVPs and playoff hopes. When it comes to the NFL, all we at logodesign.com care about is which team has the best logo. And to find out, we polled 25 expert designers, who ranked each of the NFL’s team logos best to worst. The designers said the Denver Broncos have the best logo design, followed by the New England Patriots and Houston Texans. You can see the rest of the Top 10 List here.

And if you noticed your favorite team didn’t make the Designer’s Choice list, we set up a separate poll for our readers. If you want to see your team on the top of that list, you can vote now by clicking here.

On an interesting side note, five of our designer’s top 10 choices are also in ESPN’s top ten NFL teams this week. Coincidence? I don’ t think so.

  1. Administrator Says:

There must be some serious Broncos fans out there. The broncos logo has over 3000 votes, well above other team’s logos.

  2. Tape Says:

Perhaps all those voting thought it was the old broncos’ logo; the current one is ok at best.

  3. Drake Tungsten Says:

The new Broncos logo reminds me of the old Jordache jeans logo:

  4. Dave Says:

This is interesting, because I was under the impression that the Broncos and Patriots had the worst NFL logos since their redesigns.

  5. Jim Says:

Broncos have the WORST helmet and uniform in NFL. TErrible. Patriots was MUCH better with the old center snapping the ball. Your top 4 are all new school, schlotz, curves, etc. They all suck. Gimme the Pack, Steelers, Raiders, Dolphins, etc. Those are solid!!!

  6. SaveFarris Says:

Not all that surprising. Every single one of the Top 10 logos as rated by designers have been created, or at least tweaked, in the past 10 years.

Meanwhile, you look at the fan’s list, and 7 of the top 10 designs are more or less unchanged going back to the 70’s and before.

Proof that designers like what’s new & hip while fans prefer tradition.

  7. Chris Says:

I say nike sent their minions to vote on the broncos logo.

  8. David Says:

They must be smoking something, because the Broncos have one of the worst logos in all of sports, period (outside of the Sabres new logo). It reminds me of a flaming condom!

  9. Terbo Says:

The designer’s choices are just awful, proof that professional designers value aesthetic wankery above all else.

Praise to the reader’s who have made somewhat better choices in their poll, except of course for the Bronco ballot stuffers.

  10. Guy Says:

    I agree with farris
Whatever they considered stylish today, will be tacky down the road.
How likely is it that N.E., Denver, and Houston will still be using these logos ten years from now?

  11. pr9000 Says:

It’s hard to vote for the logo when you take the whole uniform into account … I mean, that’s how I rated everything. In that case, I’d have to vote for the Broncos’ unis as being some of the best in the league. Nothing matches the Colts’ home unis, though.

If only we had read stripes around the arms, though. This half-stripe thing sucks.

  12. acs Says:

I’d like to know who the designers are for the logos in the top 10.

  13. Kevin Says:

I would agree that the Broncos logo is the worst in the league. They remind me of some of the old USFL teams, not a established NFL franchise.

Check out the USFL logos at http://www.logoserver.com/USFL.html and see if the Broncos, Patriots and Titans would fit right in with the Memphis Showboats and Oakland Invaders. Heck, the logo for the Houston Gamblers may be better than the 3 NFL teams I previously mentioned.

  14. Jon Says:

I have to agree with the many critics of the top picks for NFL logos. These designs will not stand the test of time. The best logos are the ones that have weathered the changes of fashion over the past 50 years such as the Colts (though I will never forgive them for moving from Baltimore). That same simple blue horshoe has adorned NFL greats from Johnny U and Raymond Berry in the 50s and 60s through Bert Jones and Roger Carr in the 70s to Peyton Manning and Marvin Harrison.

The Rams, a team that has moved almost as many times as the Raiders, were the first team to adopt a helmet design in the 1940s and it has remained virtually the same over 60 years. It has gone through some cosmetic changes but it is basically the same curly ram’s horn.

The Eagles are another team that has managed to resist dramatic changes to a simple and effective helmet logo. Like the Rams they have only made minor changes over the years.

I love the Bears and Packers strong sense of tradition but the Bears C is virtually identical to the Cincinnati Reds C and I just can’t stand the green and gold colors of the Packers (I suffered wearing the same uniform for two years in Pop Warner — sorry Wisconsin).

Finally, I applaud the two NY (NJ) teams for jettisoning the horrible logos and uniforms that they adopted in the 70s and 80s and returning to the unis of their Golden eras.

One more item, I wish the Patriots would get rid of the flying head and return to Pat hiking the ball.

  15. Bowen Says:

The Broncos logo & uni’s are solid. If you want hideous, look at the Vikes new uni’s. They look like a college team. The Bengals would be well-advised to get rid of the white side-panels. The Pats need a red alternate, not that silver that looks like dirty white on TV. The Jets have some of the best uni’s in the league. The Bills needed a re-design the day they came out with the new uni’s. Sometimes classic is nice, but their are some real nice new-school uni’s. Like the Seahawks. Those sleeve are simple, classic, and trendy.

  16. Mike Says:

No one gives the broncos credit. The logo is awesome, and the uni’s started the fad of having the side pannels going up the sides. They deserve #1.

  17. Didier Says:

I like the Cleveland logo out of all.
The Denver logo has something special too and i love the color style of the Cincinnati logo :-)

  18. russell Says:

nothing touches the calgary flames logo.. the hottest logo in north america :p

  19. guest Says:

The calgary flames logo looked better when it was the flaming A of Atlanta…

And by the way, as a life-long Bronco fan, both the new logo and the previous logo rock, while the original bucking bronco was quite hideous.

Poster Dave above must be from Cleveland and is harboring a deep seated hatred of Denver due to “the drive”, bwah ha ha.

  20. guest Says:

my apologies, I meant “David” not “Dave” although both don’t like the logo.

  21. fuck Says:

You guys are idiots. Broncos own and so does their logo. You guys are not even good enough to look at it.

  22. Bronxs Says:

Denver’s logo is bunk status. So for all you traditionalists out there, do you still put on your bell bottoms and your 3inch thick sun glasses? I doubt it. It’s called staying fresh. So far, denver’s logo is the freshest in the NFL. Just looking at it you know that horse is gonna kick some serious A$$.

  23. tattoo Says:

The bronco’s logo is the best. Too bad all the rednecks here in colorado paste it wrong. It’s supposed to sit on the “V” tip, but everybody sticks the stickers so that it rests on the left side of the “V”–about 20 degrees counter-clockwise. nimrods. makes it look like a decapitated horse-head.

  24. Matteo Says:

The Broncos logo deserves top five, easily. Nice & clean and perfectly executes modernizing an old franchise while keeping true to the “bronco look”.

Some of you who are hating the choice are giving weak arguments. Is anyone here actually a designer? lol Give me a real critique.

  25. Dustin Says:

what i like about the Broncos logo is the way it looks like a stampede of horses when the Linemen get into stance and lower their heads. i dont know why someone said the raiders logo is good. who wants an A$$ Pirate representing your team. why do you think the Bucs changed their from an A$$ Pirate to a pirate flag instead? too many Bronco Haters are posting on this site. thinking that its just a few fans stuffing the ballot but if it was their favorite team on top… the voting MUST be legit! (sarcasm)

  26. Jordan Says:

The Seahawks’ new logo is the best I believe. It’s a great streamlined version of the old one and it’s really a good-looking logo overall. The Texans’, the Ravens and the Titans are absolutely awful and most of the rest of the designer top 10 is bad as well.

I think the Chiefs really need an overhaul, especially in their jerseys which are just too bright to look at.

  27. Jordan Says:

All the NFL’s logos are done by the same design team. I believe that is NFL Properties LLC. Pretty amazing.

  28. ted Says:

    I like the Broncos

But most of the other “professional” picks are terrible. The fans have a better perspectivem, perhaps because they ‘know the client’ better then the pros in this case :)

  29. SEO Says:

i like the broncos logo, however, i feel that they could have had a better logo design and more creative one. Anyways, Logo design is a very hard job because they to come up with a desing that is easy and attractive. Please check out my logo at:

  30. Bill Anderson Says:

I like the Ravens digs but, to be number one?

  31. shane Says:

broncos are my favorite team but their new logo sucks. their old one was better.

  32. Matt Says:

I don’t see why everyone hates the Patriots logo, if the old one were still around it would be out of place among the others. Plus I like the new one better anyway.

  33. Broncoholic7 Says:

The Broncos have always had a color scheme and logo that has been revolutionary in the NFL. From the traditional classic D logo which was a staple of the franchise to the cyber horse, which was first introduced in 1997. The current Broncos logo and uniform set a trend for several NFL teams that has since been imitated, but yet to be replicated. Without a doubt the Broncos bucked the traditional trend and introduced the rest of the NFL to the new era of Mile High football. GO BRONCOS!!!

  34. Kuato Lives Says:

Just because the “predominantly orange” side panels started a trend doesn’t make it worthy of any praise…Think: Popped collars.

As a cradle to grave Broncomaniac, I recognize the new logo, color scheme and uniforms as an attempt to make the team appear trendy and desirable in any market, not just Denver. Don’t forget that the unis were introduced BEFORE the stadium vote that barely approved a new sales tax to build INVESCO. Removing the D and making Orange the secondary color could have assited Pat Bowlen in moving the franchise had the new stadium tax been rejected by voters.

Overall, I’ve managed to stomach the new look Broncos, but it always reminds me of how team ownership slapped down decades of tradition while simultaneously holding the fan base hostage.

  35. Gator Says:

I love the Bears and Packers strong sense of tradition but the Bears C is virtually identical to the Cincinnati Reds C and I just can’t stand the green and gold colors of the Packers

  36. Ticketwood Says:

The Broncos logo deserves top five, easily. Nice & clean and perfectly executes modernizing an old franchise while keeping true to the “bronco look”.

  37. Win Says:

I have no idea why the Bronco’s logo is even top 10. Its only half decent. I also have no idea why the Texans logo is there. I mean it really isn’t good. I can understand why the Ravens logo is there. Sure the colors arent great(still better than the states flag) but the mascot is both recognizable and has aggressive lines. the broncos logo I sometimes confuse for the reebok logo, and up close it just doesn’t look nice. I think my team the eagles should fire whoever thought that that bird thing looked good and go back to kelly green. Back to the texans; you have to have won at some point to be considered. if not your logo represents losing and you automatically suck.

  38. bengals fan Says:

This is sort of unfair as the bengals actually have a comparable logo to all the top 10 but it wasn’t included on here. It is a ‘bengal tiger head’ stylized much like the broncos horse or ravens raven. Seriously we need a revote with the REAL bengals logo.

  39. jon Says:

    f. yall, the broncos logo IS the best, if you dont like it leave america. sincerely, a bronco fan.

  42. Chris Says:

Been a patriot fan all my life; grew up loving the revolutionary minuteman logo; also have grown to hate the Flying Elvis logo. Also, why is it all Buffalo sport team logos suck?

  43. Craig Says:

The Pats logo is horrible. The Rams logo is perfect.People her are voting for their favorite team not the logo. The Seahawks design is quite nice as it represents the
team and the native American people of the Seattle area.

  44. BomBenebymn Says:

I’d prefer reading in my native language, because my knowledge of your languange is no so well.

  45. 49ersFan5XChampions Says:

I like the Packers, Cowboys, Raiders, Steelers and ofcourse 49ers….. why? Because history is behind those logo’s, that to me makes a logo stand out.
