LogoDesign.com Podcast Episode 4: Logotypes
In this latest episode, Paul Browning continues his in-depth analysis of logo design by discussing logotypes, which consist of minimal graphics, and maximum font. Paul discusses the benefits and drawbacks of these design styles and talks about how to manipulate fonts to create custom, great-looking logotypes.

As always, we welcome your feedback by posting comments on our Logodesign.com blog, or by emailing FEEDBACK@LOGODESIGN.COM, as well as by posting reviews on iTunes. Enjoy!

Great podcasts. I’ve just came across your podcasts about a week ago.
Logos have been a hobby of mine since the mid 1960’s. Now that I’ve retired from electronics, I’m trying to make a go of it on my own (along with my wife) in graphics. I can use all the advice I can get.
I’ve made several ambigrams. You can see a few of them on my web site.
Thanks for all the time you put into producing the podcasts, and please keep them coming.

Thanks for the podcast. I really like the bit about removing pieces of the font but knowing that the ey reads the top of the letter before the the bottom…obivious once you hear it. Thanks for helping us would be designers for our own little business.

I could also just slap on a 3-d graphic style that AI comes with, but that would not be using any creative energy at all, and I would have to turn in my designer badge and gun.

I really enjoyed the podcast. I look forward to your upcoming podcast on typography. If it isn’t too basic, could you do a podcast on the subject of tips and tricks in Illustrator? I am just starting to get comfortable with the pen tool, and could use any help you have to offer.

I see what you mean, Sol…it could use some work. A little tweaking with that A, which would mean changing the other side…but that’s what makes ambigrams so fun. They’re such a challenge.

I am looking for someone to help design a logo for my school. What is the best way to find someone to do this for you at the least amount of cost, but at the same time with good style?

It is always a great challenge to keep the logo simple…

If you want to keep it cheap, you might try your local college…the design students are always looking for work to put in their portfolio. THey would probably do it for less than $100. The good style you’ll have to pay for, unfotunately for you.
