I understand they were trying to imitate the geometric tendencies of Southwestern Art. Well, they failed miserably. Southwestern Art is a rich tapestry of visual delight. The Arizona Diamondbacks' "A" logo is not. The "D" logo is a step in the right direction. It has more attitude and dynamic appeal that you expect from a baseball team logo. Most media outlets complained that the colors were too hard to copy" Nice excuse. Remember all the expansion sports teams in the mid90s that adopted purple and/or teal for their logo? The Carolina Panthers and Colorado Rockies are the first to come to mind. The fact is that purple and teal were trendy for a couple years. Those colors can not withstand the test of time. They look dated and ugly. That's why the D-Backs changed their colors.
