I think this is a case of the client totally misusing the logo and making it crappier than the design firm intended. They flipped it in some cases to fit on the other side of the planes and made the compass point facing northEAST. Shame.

Yes, I should have mentioned that. And I’m an idiot, because I neglected to realize that the NWA logo is now changed to this http://www.nwa.com/ which makes no sense to me. No compass, no awesome NW. Depressing.

An interesting thing about the Northwest Airlines logo (that a friend pointed out to me several years ago) is that the small triangle along with the circle, forms a compass that is pointing north-west.
