Logo Design Podcast 10: Have you heard about this 2012 Olympics Logo yet?

Not to beat a dead horse…but…well actually, I could see a dead horse in this logo. With the controversial 2012 Olympic Logo still fresh in everyone’s minds, we decide to look a little bit more in depth at the saga of Olympic Logos. Good thing they don’t have the Logo Draw as an official event. Anyways, it looks like Logoworks is trying some damage control in an effort to show what great ideas the design community REALLY has to offer…and for FREE. They built this website where you can create your own logo for 2012 and submit it for voting. UK visitors can go to your very own site HERE. We also found a similar site here, not sure whose it is. It’s a neat deal, and you can see alot of different ideas that designers across the world have come up with. Give it a try…anything’s better.

David Hasselhoff revealed as designer of 2012 Olympic Logo.

In what came as a stunning revelation today, David Hasselhoff has been outed as the designer of the immediately infamous, and highly controversial 2012 Olympic Logo to be held in London, England.

It appears ‘The Hoff’, one of the hosts of the hit TV show ‘America’s Got Talent’…and other smashes such as Knight Rider, and Baywatch, has some talent of his own.

According to sources, the inspiration for the logo came from a self-portrait The Hoff shot for a Pepsi commercial.  We were able to dig up this notorious photo, and the similarities are blatantly obvious.

We are not sure what ramifications this will have on the design community as a whole, as there has already been much outrage voiced over the quality of the logo and the selection process.  Questions such as: Were there any special considerations given by the panel of Olympic Logo Judges based on his undeniable starpower?  Are any of the panelists related to Devon Miles?  Are some of the panelists German?…are bound to arise, and barring an official inquiry by the I.O.C., we may all just be Hooked on a Feeling.
