John McCain’s logo fits his campaign platform quite well. Power, authority,
military, courage, and boldness are the visual messages conveyed by this
logo, which are the same underlying messages of his platform. By using a
deeper, darker blue as the background for his logo, McCain brings a bolder,
more serious front to his image. The military star, yellow spikes, and red
and white stripes bring a sense of military and duty to the logo to the
design.
The sans-serif type also conveys boldness as well as brings a more
modern look to the design. Only two other candidates of the 17 in this study
use a sans-serif font. Finally, the simplicity of the single word “McCain”
further brings emphasis and authority to the design, reflecting the
no-nonsense, straight-forwardness of his campaign.
