Logo Design Podcast 16: How to Remake and Refresh an Existing Logo

In this weeks episode, Paul takes two logos that were submitted for review, and gives them a much needed makeover. Many times a client will insist on maintaining most, if not ALL elements of their current logo in a redesign. Most of the time, these elements were very hastily glued together using MSPaint or Photoshop, and are a giant stumbling block for clients and designers alike.

Origins of the Google Logo

Wired Magazine recently chronicled the history of the Google logo. They went through and showed all of the Google logos that might have been. Some are good, and some are bad.

Google knew they wanted to go with a logotype as opposed to just a logo. The article shows the different stages in the development of the Google logo. I like the logo that they eventually chose although I’m not sure if that is only because it is so familiar to me.

Valentine’s Logos

Now that Valentine’s Day is over, we want to thank and congratulate a few companies out there making holiday versions of their logos. There are many more Valentine’s logos out there; we can’t highlight all of them. I think making holiday logos is something fun that companies can do.
