Logo Design Podcast 18: Hierarchy
So, you’ve completed what you think is a great looking logo. Now you need to take a step back and consider the overall visual progression. Where is the eye immediately drawn to? Is what’s most important being seen clearly and first? Or is it getting lost, or noticed 2nd or 3rd, or worse yet…not at all?
There are a number of ways to get around the visual hierarchy problem, including adjusting size, contrast, placement etc. In Logo Design Podcast 18, Paul discusses some little tricks and hints to rectifying this problem, and correctly establishing visual hierarchy in a logo.

Please send us your thoughts, likes, dislikes, future podcast topics you would like to see covered to us here. Thanks for listening!

Awesome podcast! Lots of great info.
Note: The first Jeep logo did not appear in the podcast. When you discuss reading the Helvetica text before the jeep outline, the Body Need photo is still showing. (Minute 12:16)

Great Podcast. This is very important to logo design, but I think a lot of (at least amateurs) designers tend to mess up. Your examples work perfectly. I look forward to the next p’cast.

Great podcast!
Seldom do you encounter a podcast purely focused on Logo design.
If I could suggest future topics:
- developing creative briefs
- tips and trick for overcoming creative-block
- what you do when delivering the final logos to clients, ie formats, guidelines, etc…
- how to handle tough clients during the draft phase of the logo process
Anyhow, thanks again for taking the time to produce the podcast. Looking forward to the next.

This is something that is very important in a logo and is quite easy to miss when your busy focusing on the details. The most important thing is that the words are read in the correct order I have seen a few logos in the past where your eyes kind of jump between the words with uncertainty. Thank you for sharing this.
