LogoNav launched a new online business directory that displays company logos instead of regular text results. Nearly 6 million U.S. based companies are featured in the listings. LogoNav has 400 categories represented by icons similar to the iPhone style. LogoNav was created because of the difficulty using YellowPages.com and other online directories. The results show up quickly and you can easily find what you are looking for when you see the logos.
“The future is moving towards touch screen technology. Let’s say you want pizza for dinner. You’ll be able to find pizza restaurants, touch the Domino’s Pizza logo, and then click to call. Then you’ll be able to browse the web site or menu as you place your order,” said Brian R. McLaughlin, President of LogoNav.
The unique value of the LogoNav is that logos show up in the search results. Users won’t be bogged down by looking through multiple text findings. They can simply see the logo of the companies they are looking for to get more information.
I think the new search engine is interesting. It probably will make finding a specific company a lot easier than searching through text links. It also makes the importance of branding and logo design that much more important. It’s a great opportunity for large companies and small companies alike to brand themselves.
