Did LogoDesign.com Predict who would be President?

Yeah, yeah, yeah…we know. You are tired of all this Presidential debating, mud-slinging, moose-shooting, He said/She said. But we just couldn’t miss the opportunity to show you how eerily accurate our Presidential Logos Battle turned out to be!

We got an early jump on the runnings, and came out with a voting system last August which you can find here: Presidential Logos.

John McCain and Barack Obama Presidential Logos

Our readers voted Barack Obama as the #1 logo amongst peers, as did our designers. Sure enough, Mr. Barack Obama now has the lead for Presidency in most major Polls, while McCain, who finished #4, is running a close second to Obama.

We’ve made many predictions before on nfl logos and nba logos and so on, but none of our predictions have ever been as accurate nor important as this.

If you don’t think design influences people for the good or the bad…think again.

Logo Design Podcast 18: Hierarchy

So, you’ve completed what you think is a great looking logo. Now you need to take a step back and consider the overall visual progression. Where is the eye immediately drawn to? Is what’s most important being seen clearly and first? Or is it getting lost, or noticed 2nd or 3rd, or worse yet…not at all?

There are a number of ways to get around the visual hierarchy problem, including adjusting size, contrast, placement etc. In Logo Design Podcast 18, Paul discusses some little tricks and hints to rectifying this problem, and correctly establishing visual hierarchy in a logo.

Logo Design Podcast 17: S I M P L I F Y

In our 17th Podcast installation, Paul talks about simplifying your logo. Things such as tag lines, too many colors, awkward readability, too many words, trademark symbols etc., often are the single biggest detriment to a well designed logo/website etc.

By focusing on the essentials, you allow passers-by to quickly focus on them as well. Generally the 3 second rule is the standard to live by. If someone cannot visually ingest and comprehend your logo in 3 seconds or less, get out the scissors and start trimming!
