This has some potential, nice start. I’m not sure the text over the picture is working as well as it should, it’s a little hard to read. Any time you have text overlappping a graphic in a logo, it brings up useability issues later. Is there a reason the letters that are red, are red other than the legibility issues of blending into the border? The graphic is pretty good and I would like to see it without the text over the top. I would suggest re-working this a bit to seperate the text and the mark, and I think the mark is too large also. Good luck with your revisions, I’m interested in seeing this when you re-work it a bit.

Is there a significance to this face? I mean, is it a famous Chicago actor? I can’t tell. It’s a nice illustration, though. I would agree that the graphic needs to be seperated from the text in this case.

Ditto. The text needs to be separate for sure. Get rid of the “tricky” brush stroke. Not sure why you’ve colored certain letters red. If you’re going to do that, make sure it’s purposeful. For instance the “ca” in chicago could be colored red to represent the initials of the entire name “chicago actors”. Avoid the font myriad. It’s cool, but iPod took it for itself and it has become overused. Find something similar like Gotham or Gill Sans to do the job.
