Many times you have to work around what the client wants. That is just a part of being a designer.
I really like the footprint and you worked it in nicely to create the icon. Without knowing that it was for a company on the coast, it got that impression from the icon because of the footprints and the white wave with the blue on top. That was done very nicely.
The problem with the logo is the typography and the positioning of the icon. I’m guessing the phrase “little bit long way” is a tagline. If it is I would suggest dropping it, or if the client wants it on, make it smaller, much smaller. Another suggestion would be to play with the layout. Right now the logo is off balance. I would try bringing the icon on the side of the company name and if you have to leave the tagline in, putting it on the bottom. I think your icon is strong but the type really takes away from it.
Good job, and keep working on it, it is almost there.

I understand you were going for unicity with the sliced S’s, but they look accidental. That could be done a little better. Also, I’m thinking that the “little bit long way” is the company name, so it should be a little larger than safaris. The reason this logo isnt working is because there’s no hierarchy. The eye doesnt know what to look at first. Make it 1) name 2)graphic and 3) safaris. or you could switch the 2 and 3, just make it so it’s not 3 elements competing for attention.

I like the colors and icon. The font needs help and you could change the shape of the icon to fit the text better.

I agree with Paul about the hierarchy. The way you have changed colors on the type is confusing to me. Are you trying to make “bit’ and “long” stand out? If so, why?

I like the icon. Not uniform, but it’s safaris. It’s suppose to convey rugged. The color seperation symbolizing the coast is nice.

I don’t like how the kerning of the upper type is very close, while the lower type is kerned far apart. The weight of the upper type looks very heavy on top of the lower type. You can combat this by changing colors. If you decide you like the type the way it is you can make the upper type considerably lighter than the lower type. That way it won’t feel so heavy on top of “Safaris.”
