You’re on the right track..I’d just make a few tweaks. Flames could use a little work, they look a little rushed. I like the merging with the F. This font looks a little “freeware” with the caps, because it doesnt have a definite baseline. The curves extend past the topline and baseline..it just bugs me. So I’d use Olijo, since it looks a little more professional.

The arrowed UP…is a little gimmicky. I usually try to keep the areas of interest down to 3, and that brings it to 4, so it makes it a little busy. Other designers might disagree.

The DESIGN part is a little too small, and will get lost if this logo is shrunk at all.

Other than that, you have a pretty strong logo. Good job.

I think this is a great logo. A lot of my comments are similar to Paul’s. First the flame could look more like a flame, at first gaze, it reminded me of a leaf.
Second, the arrow on the U could be dropped; it doesn’t do a lot for the logo.
Third, I think the font is okay. All curves on fonts extend pass the topline and baseline; this one is just exaggerated more. You could probably find something that works better but I like how the curves match the icon.
Fourth, the DESIGN part needs some work, I agree that when produced small it will get lost.
Other than those small items, I think you have a really strong logo.
    Great job

Yeah, usually the O and U extend past the top and baselines…but not the Rs, Ds, and Ps. Maybe avant garde or century gothic would match that circle better.

RIght, that flame is too soft and leafy. Or dinosaur footprint-y. Spend some time on a cool flame!

Great job with the rework. The flame now looks more like a flame.

    Hey Jon,

Personally I prefer the logo in it’s original form minus the arrow on th ‘up.’ I think that the connection of the flame icon to the text could be smoother and make for a tighter compostion. The icon is too busy in the revised version. The text worked a lot better in the first composition as well. In the revised version, the font is boring and doesn’t relate as well to the icon.

I hope this doesn’t create too much confusion to have varying opinions. I would stick with the original as per my comments above.

    thanks guys

I really value your opinions - I am inclined to agree with Ben, I kind of like the simplicity of the first logo, I am still re-working it, looking at other fonts and trying to find a compromise between the first “flame” which I agree looks like a leaf, and the second flame that reminds me too much of cracks in a pavement!

Somewhere in there is a good looking logo I just know it!

If its ok with you I would like to resubmit again, probably next week.

Thanks again for your opinions, its great to have people who are willing to give an objective view of my work.

    Jon.

I like this flame the best, and the font. I just think that the icon is a little too big now. But you’ve revised it nicely.

  11. Panel Expert - Tony Naccarato Says:

I really like the flame and icon on your new revision but I don’t like the font as much. Something doesn’t seem right about how the icon and text come together. I like on your second logo how the icon and font work together, but the third logo is almost completely different. Maybe the icon being smaller would help, but also the font could be reworked.
I think you are on the right track, good job.
