You got a lot going for you hear. Although, it kind of reminds me of an old lady who wears the same color of shirt, pants, and shoes!!
Maybe add another shade in there or do a small gradient. Something to break up the solid maroon.

I like the ruby..it also looks like a web, which may be good for tech and mail etc. If the descender on the y goes farther down, it could act as a separater for your two-part tagline?

I always harp on simplicity, but this one may be too simple. A sifferent angle of a ruby might be better, instead of just straight-on. It doesnt hook me yet. Tagline needs to go, and the kerning needs to be worked on.

This isn't a bad logo, it's nice and simple, which I like. There are a couple of things you could do to make it better. First, the kerning on 'RubyMail' could be a little more consistent. Especially the 'b' and 'y'.
Second, the tag-line doesn't look like it fits very well with logo. Some ideas would be to make it smaller and try to incorporate it better or drop it all together.
The strongest part of the logo is the icon. Good job.
