Just a quick administrators note, the main portion they want critiqued is the ecoMundus part. I included the rest of the logo container just so you can see with what it will be paired.

Note to reviewers: I recently changed the “slogan” to
“access environmental data and information” which I think reads better than the overused “gateway to”

This logo looks great, though I would have preferred to see it presented alone than with the rest of the container.
The logo is easy to read, and the globe adds a nice touch. The variation in size between “eco” and “mundus” gives the logo a unique feel, which is great.
My only concern is how th logo would look on black and white printed material.
Why not make the globe more of a symbol, and less of a graphic? Cut out sections of “land” in the globe to make it easier to recognize as being a globe.
Looks good though, even with all of the added information around it. And the new slogan works well too.

My first thought on this logo is that you are trying to hard to incorporate everything into it. First with the globe and then with the “un” being a different color. I like your thinking but eliminating one of those elements might make it a stronger logo. I like how the globe cuts into the M, so that should stay, but the connection between the different color “un” and “United Nations” isn’t strong enough which leads me to question it. Especially if the logo is along, then all connection would be lost. I think it would be stronger just to have the “un” the same color.

I agree with everything Tony Naccarato has advised. My only addition would be to suggest that the ‘Access’ be all lowercase. The capital at the beginning of the slogan appears to eat into the space beneath the eco detracting from the geometry and negative space which is what makes this logo look soooooo good.

Since it’s very overdone to put a globe in place of the O in an “eco” logo, you might want to at least make the globe unique. I like that you made the eco baseline offset to give it some style, but the spacing, font and globe make it look like too many other logos.

On my monitor at work I didn’t realize there was a slight color variation of the “un” from the rest of the title.
I agree with Tony, it’s unnecessary and too much for the logo.
I think Paul has the best advice, make the globe unique and you’ll have a great logo.

I really like the color shift applied to the letters “un” but I wonder how it would be perceived if the logo was on its own without the surrounding elements in the container. Would most people relate to it correctly? I would hate for it to be looked at as un-cool not “un” for United Nations. Just a thought…

This is invaluable. Are there examples of how the modified globe should look ?
In reality a problem I am facing now is printing it on a pen mug , etc.

Hi Sean,
I did a quick search on Google for some globe ideas, and this is the closest graphic I could find:
http://www.amnesty-volunteer.org/clipart/blacknwhite/GIFS/GLOBE5.GIF
It’s simple, two colors, and still easily recognizable as a globe - even at fairly small sizes. Something like this would help the logo flow better because it would give the feeling of “clipping out the negative space,” similar to what you have done with the “o” cutting out of the “M.”
Of course, instead of black your globe would be blue.
Hope that gives you a better idea of what I was referring to in my previous post Sean. Keep up the hard work.
